I love your Advent giving calendar! It is a very concrete way to count our blessings, and then make those blessings count. I think I will use it with my two teenagers, whom I homeschool, as part of an Advent project.
I understand that historically people have given things up for Advent, much as for Lent, but clearly this has been lost in our current frenzy of consumption.

I do like the calendar... 'tis similar to some others that I have seen elsewhere, and the heart of it is indeed beautiful.
I'm risking a bit here... but what if all of the "cent" symbols were exchanged for dollar signs? I mean, a kid working in a sweatshop doesn't even make 3 cents in a day, and to be honest I can definitely afford for $3 to go to a charity.
I wonder what it would be like to match our self-luxury-giving with our others-charity-givng... hmm
Rebecca, I first ran across this calendar somewhere else myself, but it was just a list of words, so I added the visual design. I think it would be wonderful to change the denomination of the money to dollars instead of cents. I like your thought of choosing to give more, and also the thought of how giving is possible even for those who don't think they have much to give. Thank you!
